From Vision to Impact: The Story of Kango's Kids of Uganda Foundation
Kango's Kids of Uganda Foundation emerged from a deep-seated desire to address the systemic challenges facing vulnerable children and women in Northern Uganda. Witnessing the severe gaps in education, child welfare, and economic opportunity, our founders mobilized local resources to provide immediate, grassroots relief to those who needed it most.
Established in 2023 as a registered Community-Based Organization (CBO) in Oyam District, our journey began with a small group of dedicated local leaders. From our early milestones of supporting a handful of orphans and launching our first women's savings groups, we have rapidly expanded our operations and deepened our impact.
Today, we partner directly with multiple schools, local government bodies, and communities across Kamdini Sub-County. We have evolved from a localized crisis response into a structured organization delivering sustainable programs that tackle the root causes of poverty, lack of education, and gender-based violence.
A Community-Led Organization Rooted in Northern Uganda
We are a passionate team of Ugandan professionals, social workers, and community advocates dedicated to uplifting our own communities. Our identity is deeply rooted in the cultural and social fabric of Northern Uganda, giving us a unique understanding of the challenges our people face.
We believe that sustainable change can only be achieved when interventions are designed and implemented by the people who understand the local context best. We do not impose outside solutions; instead, we listen, collaborate, and build capacity from within.

Spiritual Growth & Faith Development
We believe that true transformation encompasses both physical well-being and spiritual resilience. Our program provides a foundation of hope, moral guidance, and community support through dedicated Bible study and discipleship.
Weekly Community Programs
Engaging weekly gatherings that bring together children, youth, and adults for shared worship, learning, and mutual encouragement in a safe, welcoming environment.
Discipleship & Mentorship
Structured mentorship pairing young people with mature community leaders to guide them through life's challenges with faith-based principles and practical wisdom.
Child Welfare & Orphanage Support
Providing essential care, nutrition, and safe housing for 100 orphaned and vulnerable children, ensuring they grow up in a nurturing environment.
Education Support
Removing barriers to learning through school fee sponsorships, scholastic materials, and infrastructure improvements in local partner schools.
Women's Empowerment
Fostering economic independence through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), financial literacy training, and micro-enterprise support.
GBV Reduction
Combating Gender-Based Violence through community sensitization, survivor support networks, and engaging local leaders to change harmful norms.
Child Advocacy
Strengthening community protection mechanisms, educating families on child rights, and working with local authorities to prevent child abuse and exploitation.
Adolescent Health
Delivering vital sexual and reproductive health education, providing sanitary materials to keep girls in school, and promoting healthy life choices.
Integrated Approach
We recognize that poverty, lack of education, and violence are interconnected. Our programs are designed to work synergistically, addressing multiple facets of vulnerability simultaneously for holistic community development.

Active Women Members Involved
Women Empowerment Farming Project
Agriculture is the backbone of Northern Uganda. Our ongoing farming project equips women with the resources, land access, and modern agricultural training needed to turn subsistence farming into profitable, sustainable agribusinesses.
Sustainable Yields
Training in climate-resilient farming techniques to ensure consistent harvests year-round.
Economic Independence
Surplus crops are sold collectively, providing direct income to support their families and children's education.

The Crisis Context
Northern Uganda faces unique historical and systemic challenges. Decades of conflict disrupted agricultural lifelines and educational infrastructure. Today, communities grapple with high numbers of orphaned children, barriers preventing girls from attending school, and entrenched economic hurdles for women.
Kango's Kids exists because traditional top-down aid often fails to reach the most vulnerable. We operate at the grassroots level, ensuring interventions directly impact those who need them most.
